In the spirit of tradition and innovation
In the upcoming supplement «Wine & Indulgence» which appears twice a year with «NZZ am Sonntag» as well as «Le Temps», we turn our attention to the fascinating revival of culinary traditions – and their contemporary reinterpretation. At the heart of this issue are winemakers deeply rooted in their craft, who nevertheless set new accents with fresh perspectives and innovative approaches. We also feature acclaimed chefs who, with a creative signature and a clear eye for the essentials, craft true culinary masterpieces. The supplement offers inspiring reports, concise portraits of visionary figures from the worlds of food and wine, practical recommendations from sommeliers, and selected recipes to try at home. An invitation to rediscover indulgence – between tradition and modern spirit.
Independent experts will provide insights into these editorially independent pieces. In addition, companies and organizations are invited to contribute guest articles, offering a broader thematic perspective. These special editions, appearing in the «Neue Zürcher Zeitung» or the «NZZ am Sonntag», are not produced by the editorial team but by our in-house storytelling service: NZZ Content Creation.

- Wines with character from the Ribera del Duero: The traditional Bodegas Valduero winery is one of the leading voices in the renowned Ribera del Duero region. With a deep connection to its origins, it produces powerful, elegant wines with a clear signature.
- Chasselas reimagined: Long underrated, the traditional Chasselas grape variety is experiencing an exciting renaissance. Three winemakers show how fresh approaches and individual styles can unlock the potential of this old variety.
- A Riesling road trip: A declaration of love for the traditional wine region of Pfalz, which is in the process of reinventing itself.
- Cucina tradizionale: With Marco Ortolani, head chef at Eden Kitchen at the Hotel La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich, the journey takes us to the culinary heart of Abruzzo. The focus is on authentic flavours, regional ingredients and the timeless simplicity of Italian cuisine.
