Thai Life: Clients and Partners of audienzz and NZZone Celebrated Under the Full Moon

When the NZZ’s two advertising specialists send out invitations, things get turned up to full volume – once a year. Even more so when their legendary «Summer End Party» transforms into an authentic «Full Moon Party» – Thailand vibes in the heart of Zurich West.

Anyone who found their way to the Bananenreiferei at Pfingstweidstrasse 101 had no reason to regret it. Access was via the main entrance of Migros Herdern, from where guests reached the rooftop terrace by stairs or lift across a footbridge. What was once, for nearly 50 years, an actual banana ripening facility has, since 2013, served as an event location with generous indoor and outdoor areas.

Although audienzz and NZZone never settle for anything less than 100% satisfaction from their clients and partners in day-to-day business, the NZZ’s two advertising specialists made an exception on the evening of 27th August 2026, contenting themselves with just under 99% – as the moon would only be truly full the following morning. However, this astronomical constellation inspired the hosts to turn the legendary «Summer End Party» into an authentic «Full Moon Party», following the Thai model. The world’s most famous full moon celebration takes place every month on Haad Rin Beach on the island of Koh Phangan.

Around 400 guests accepted the invitation to enjoy the Thailand feeling in the heart of Zurich West. Even the almost Southeast Asian summer night fit the theme: first blazing sunshine and nearly 30 degrees again, followed by clear skies and later an unobstructed view of the moon. At the beach bars, guests were served Chang or Singha beer and cocktails such as Mai Tai and Thai Basil Smash. The food stalls offered Thai cuisine from specialised caterer Mangosteen, including fresh satay skewers with chicken or prawns and fruity peanut sauce at the grill station.

Fitting entertainment was provided by Swiss-Thai entertainer Sek Vongrathsavay with his vocal performance and Swiss-Thai burlesque pioneer Emma Mylan with her LED show. Of course, elements of Thai everyday culture could not be missing either – for example, temple dancers, Thai massages, body painting and karaoke. The supporting programme was rounded off by the attractions that have become well-known over the years: tattoo studio, photo booth, cigar lounge and minibar.

A great atmosphere lasting well into the night and plenty of beautiful moments – what more could one want? Perhaps two flight tickets from Zurich to Phuket and back, offered by Edelweiss Air. Or a voucher worth 500 francs for the Thai restaurant White Elephant at Zurich’s Marriott Hotel. Both were up for grabs! Provided one could figure out the number of full moons hidden on site – including a giant moon that also shone as a super-decoration on the rooftop terrace.

But just like «Weltklasse Zürich», which took place the same evening at the neighbouring Letzigrund, even the best «Full Moon Party» eventually came to an end. Yet the hosts did not leave their clients and partners to fend for themselves even then: a shuttle service with tuk-tuks brought them from the Bananenreiferei to Hardbrücke station – fortunately less adventurous than a ride in the originals in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. Thai life to the very end.
