NZZ am Sonntag
Art Edition
We are about to celebrate a double first! The first celebration is to mark the publication of the first Art Edition of the «NZZ am Sonntag», and the second premiere is the very first creation of a unique face for «NZZ am Sonntag» by the artist Jenny Holzer.
On 7 November 2021 the American artist Jenny Holzer will curate the «NZZ am Sonntag». She will select works of art that will be positioned through the entire edition in large formats and also frame it. The concept underlying the content examines the ever-present subject of «sustainability» and links it with the political aspects of today’s «democracy».
As a further highlight, Jenny Holzer will create a limited edition (NZZ Edition) which will be available in the «NZZ Shop». Part of the income from the limited edition will be donated to charity.
The artist
Born in Ohio in 1950, the artist is considered to be one of the great humanists of contemporary art. After starting out with abstract art, her work took a conceptual turn when she moved to New York in 1977. Text became a central feature of her work which soon achieved global success. In statements and aphorisms which she presents in a variety of media and wrote herself until 2001, she directs our attention towards political and social injustices.
