«Women’s libber» used to be a dirty word – now diversity is the order of the day. But what does it actually mean to be independent? Rethinking your role? We have accompanied young women at military training school, on deployments abroad and on further training courses who have decided to pursue a career in the army. What do they experience in an institution that is still run and characterised by men? How do they define their womanhood? We also look at other female pioneers who have ventured into places, sectors and areas where they had hardly any female role models. «Emancipated» – an issue about courage and disappointment, about diversity and progress.
