«Meet the Team»: Maurice Müller
Welcome Maurice Müller 🤗 Or as far as Neue Zürcher Zeitung AG is concerned, «welcome back». Between 2016 and 2018 Maurice worked in the editorial department of «NZZ Bellevue», the lifestyle portal of «NZZ am Sonntag». He returned to the NZZ in February, joining NZZone to reinforce the NZZ Content Creation team as editor and coordinator. Before returning to Falkenstrasse, Maurice worked as an entrepreneur and store manager, while continuing to be active as a journalist.
What are the new challenges that you are looking forward to meeting in your job?
Our clients come from a variety of sectors and have different requirements. I am looking forward to satisfying clients’ high quality standards and also getting to grips with areas that are new to me.
How would your work colleagues describe you?
I am sure that my work colleagues are already well aware of my distinctive laugh and my passion for Prosecco. I am always ready for an aperitif.
What is your favourite NZZ product?
I gained my initial experience of NZZ five yeas ago when I spent some time as an intern at «NZZ Bellevue». Just six months later I decided to gather further experience as a journalist by working for twelve months as a volunteer in the Lifestyle section of «NZZ am Sonntag». As this department provided me with an entry point into journalism, it is unusually easy for me to answer your question: «NZZ Bellevue», «Z» and the «NZZ am Sonntag Magazin».
What was the first profession you wanted to take up as a child?
At that time I set my heart on being a pilot. As a child I spent no end of time in front of the Microsoft Flight Simulator and all I could think about was following this career path. If someone had told me at that time that I would study design and land up working in the world of media, I would have found it difficult to believe.
Tell us something interesting about yourself
After graduating from the Zurich University of the Arts, I decided to «go it alone» and opened «Print Matters!» in Zurich’s Hohlstrasse. I put my heart and soul into running this specialty store for magazines for nearly three years until Covid finally put an end to the business.
